Bulk Trash & Large-Item Pickup Rules Near Phillipsburg & Easton

Got a couch, a mattress, or an old fridge you need gone? Whether your town will haul it away for free depends entirely on where you live, and the rules are all over the map. Some towns give you a free bulk pickup but with tight limits, and others do not pick up large items at all. Here is exactly how it works in each town around Phillipsburg and Easton in 2026, so you know your options before you drag anything to the curb.

Rules and fees do change, so the phone numbers below are the fastest way to confirm the current details for your address. But here is the honest lay of the land right now.

Bulk pickup at a glance

  • Phillipsburg 1 free load per year
  • Easton, PA 1 item per week included
  • Lopatcong Township no routine pickup
  • Greenwich Twp / Stewartsville no routine pickup
  • Harmony Township annual spring cleanup

Phillipsburg, NJ

The Town of Phillipsburg does provide bulk pickup, but the catch is the limit. Bulk cleanups run every Wednesday (unless there is a holiday), and each household gets a limit of one bulk pickup load per year. They will take furniture, mattresses, couches, and appliances, though appliances need to have the doors removed first.

The part that trips people up: you have to request it in person at town hall. There is no online form right now, so you fill out the request in person, then place your items at the curb the night before your scheduled Wednesday. You can reach the department at (908) 454-5500, extension 314. So if you have already used your one load this year, or you have more than a single truckload, or you would rather not make the trip to town hall, that is where the town program leaves off.

Easton, PA

Trash and recycling in Easton are handled by Casella (formerly Whitetail Disposal), and the program does include bulk items, with a weekly cap. Households get one bulk item per week included with regular service, such as a piece of furniture, an appliance, or a wrapped mattress. Any items beyond that one come with a fee.

A call ahead is appreciated but not required, and to add items you contact them by noon the day before your collection day at 610-936-9967. A few rules to know: mattresses have to be wrapped in plastic, refrigerators and other refrigerated appliances must be certified deactivated with the doors removed, and toilets have to be bagged. So a single item a week is doable, but a full cleanout or a garage worth of stuff runs past what the weekly pickup covers.

Lopatcong Township, NJ

Lopatcong Township does not run a routine curbside bulk-item pickup the way Phillipsburg does. Residents generally arrange their own trash service, and the township holds periodic community cleanup events rather than a standing large-item program. If you are counting on a cleanup event, timing matters, since they only come around now and then. For the current schedule or any cleanup dates, call the township at (908) 859-3355 or Public Works at (908) 859-0013. Short version: for a couch or an appliance in Lopatcong, you are usually looking at hauling it yourself or hiring someone.

Greenwich Township & Stewartsville, NJ

Out in Greenwich Township, which includes Stewartsville, there is no municipal curbside trash collection or bulk furniture pickup. Like a lot of Warren County townships, residents contract their own private haulers for regular trash. The township does offer an electronics recycling drop-off at the rear of the Municipal Building at 321 Greenwich Street in Stewartsville, open Wednesdays from 8:00 to 1:00 and the fourth Saturday of the month from 8:30 to 11:30 (and no dumping when it is unattended, or you can be fined). For furniture, appliances, and general bulk, though, there is no town pickup, so it is self-haul or hire. Questions go to the township at (908) 859-0909.

Harmony Township, NJ

Harmony Township is our home base, so we know it well. Instead of a routine year-round program, Harmony runs an annual township-wide cleanup each spring. In 2026 that is the week of May 11 to 16, with vouchers available at the municipal building starting May 1. There is also a separate free pickup for senior citizens and disabled residents earlier that month (May 4 to 8 in 2026); you just call the township to get on the list by the May 1 deadline. Outside that spring window there is no routine curbside bulk pickup, so the rest of the year it is arrange your own trash service, haul it yourself, or hire out. For recycling and electronics, residents use the Warren County center in Oxford. Cleanup sign-ups and township questions go to (908) 213-1600, and the dates shift a little each year, so confirm the current ones. Since we are based right here, Harmony is about as fast and easy as it gets for us to reach any time of year.

What to do when the town won’t take it

Here is where most people land: the town program has a limit you have already hit, or it does not cover your situation at all. The common gaps are simple to spot:

  • You already used your one yearly bulk load in Phillipsburg.
  • You have more than one item and do not want to pay Easton’s per-item fees week after week.
  • You live in a township like Lopatcong, Greenwich, or Harmony with no routine pickup.
  • It is too heavy or awkward to wrestle to the curb yourself.
  • You do not want to wrap it, remove appliance doors, wait for a set day, or drive to town hall.

That is exactly what we do. Text us a photo, tell us your town, and we give you an exact price and a time. No yearly limits, no per-item fees stacking up, no town hall trip, and no set collection day to wait for. We carry it out, load it, and haul it off, and we handle the disposal, including the mattresses and appliances the town makes you fuss over.

One last thing worth repeating: town rules and fees change, so always confirm the current details with your town before you set anything out, and never leave a large item at the curb against the rules, since that can turn into a fine. When in doubt, a quick text to us gets you a clear price with none of the guesswork.

Frequently asked questions

Does Phillipsburg pick up bulk trash?

Yes, but with a limit. Phillipsburg does bulk pickups on Wednesdays and gives each household one bulk load per year. You have to request it in person at town hall, and appliances need their doors removed. Their number is (908) 454-5500, extension 314.

How many bulk items will Easton take?

Easton’s trash service (Casella) includes one bulk item per week per household, like a piece of furniture, an appliance, or a wrapped mattress. Extra items come with a fee, and you arrange them by noon the day before at 610-936-9967.

Do Lopatcong, Greenwich, or Harmony Township pick up furniture?

Not on a routine basis. These are townships where residents arrange their own trash service, with no standing on-demand bulk pickup. Some, like Harmony, run an annual spring cleanup, and Harmony also offers a free pickup for senior citizens and disabled residents once a year. The rest of the year, you either haul it yourself or hire someone.

Do I have to wrap a mattress or remove appliance doors?

Often, yes. Easton requires mattresses to be plastic-wrapped and refrigerators to be deactivated with doors removed, and Phillipsburg requires doors off appliances too. If we handle it, you do not have to worry about any of that.

What if I have more than my town allows?

That is the most common reason people call us. Whether you have used your yearly Phillipsburg load, have more than Easton’s one weekly item, or live in a township with no pickup at all, we take as much as you need in one trip. Text a photo for a price.
